Akau,  short  for Alaska Gold,  Ak for Alaska and Au for Gold.  Augie Krutzsch  mined in  Nome,Alaska for many years under the name of Krutzsch Mining.  He sought a catchy name for his new business.  His passion is to provide a rare opportunity during these modern days so visitors may appreciate both the beauty of  the Alaskan landscape and  tundra, to enjoy the environment and give guests a glimpse into a historic time of the  history of Nome, Alaska.   Through decades of extreme Alaskan climate the remnants of the early gold rush days are still present.
