The Krutzsch Family mined their claims near Nome, Alaska for many years under the name of Krutzsch Mining. Having such a foundation and history in gold and love for Alaska, Augie Krutzsch followed his passion to carry on his family's legacy to provide a rare opportunity for visitors to experience not only the beauty of the landscape and tundra, but also give guests a real testament into the historic past of Nome, Alaska.

Augie decided on the name AKAU to represent exactly what his family's legacy is about, Alaska Gold.

We try to cater to our guests to make them as comfortable as possible. Our Great Room has a view of the mountains, expansive Tundra, and a bit of the Bering Sea. There is plenty of room for Guests to visit & share stories. There is also a big screen TV to watch movies after a long day of searching for Gold, Fishing, or Venturing about the outback.

We shuttle from and to the airport. We try to limit our Guests to 20 per week, which keeps it small enough to provide our guests with that personal touch.
